Walk/Run benefits military families
On Sept. 3, American Red Cross Service to Armed Forces volunteers joined Operation Homefront’s Freedom 5K Walk & Run benefiting military service members and their families. SAF Volunteers worked the registration tables, water stations, snack tables and informational booths.
The purpose of the Freedom 5K Walk and Run is to raise funds to provide Thanksgiving meals to our military families across North Carolina. The goal is to raise a minimum of $20,000 in order to provide a minimum of 400 meals to military families of all the armed services - Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, National Guard, Reserves and Coast Guard.
The more money we raise, the more families we can serve! We see this as a perfect way to say “Thanks” to those who give so much.
